Archaeology

We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Canterbury Archaeological Trust. We have undertaken several community archaeology days on site and will continue to advertise these via our mailing list and Facebook page. So far, we have uncovered part of the city wall and remains of cottages previously on the site. We aim to undertake some environmental archaeology in the future.

We have held 4 excavation sessions as part of our pre-planning investigations. We are very grateful to the volunteers who joined us to help and to Canterbury Archaeological Trust (particularly Andrew Richardson). We have also held two Cleaning and Identifying Finds sessions so far and Canterbury Archaeological Trust will be pulling all the information into a report about the site.
